It wouldn't be vacation without a last-minute sewing project, right?
I put Simplicity 2599 together this week, in a pinkish-nude color dupioni silk.
The color was inspired by this Essie nail polish color - "Mambo" - that JCrew was randomly selling.
No time to take pics as it's off to the airport soon; I'll try to get shots with it on while we're away! We're spending the weekend in London, and then will be staying with family the rest of the week. First time driving in the UK, so if you don't hear from me in the next few weeks, I may be stuck in a roundabout somewhere in southeast England...

I just came back from the UK and the weather was absolutely amazing! I hope you'll have a great time and don't get stuck in a roundabout as, if I were to drive, would certainly had been my destiny...
What a nice blouse. nail polish inspiration - now that is new.
Beautiful detail and love the color you chose.
From the little bit I can see, it looks like a very J crew top to match the J crew polish - nice! Have a fabulous vacation!
Enjoy your trip! Wow, driving in London - now that is brave! I go over 2-3 times a year for work and still won't give it a try.
I love this top! I have the pattern and have been wanting to make that same top but was wondering which fabric to choose. I think I might have to go with silk dupioni. It's beautiful!

Hi- love the top! I just found your blog and am trying to get my sewing up to snuff so I can sew my own clothes. Kids and curtains so far.
Cute top! Enjoy your vacation.
Hi, I'm really excited about finding your blog. I'm a "beginnig sewer" too. I sew my clothes for nearly three years. And as you say, I'm not sure if i could buy a dress again!
By the way, the blouse is gorgeous!!
gorgeous top, looking forward to seeing some pics of you sporting it!
Your top is great and a really lovely colour .
Your fabric and color choices blend together beautifully!
I love this pattern! Hooray for D cup mods! I've made 3. The first two i left off the ruffles from the pattern and added a premade ruffle to the end of the sleeves. On one, I added the premade ruffle to the neck as well. Wonderful shirt.
