I purchased 3 yards of this purple red-flecked wool:
To make a similiar skirt suit:

I had originally pegged this teal boucle:
for a skirt suit, but I love the coat Vera Wang made of the material:
for a skirt:
The "techno tafettas", which the above jacket and top are made of, are on sale, but there aren't many colors. I wish the blue above was available, as I adore the yellow and blue combination!
There are other fabrics from the same collection (which I did not get), such as the jacquard for this dress, and a navy circle jacquard as well:
I just love off-season shopping: insane prices and, if you pack the items away and forget about them, a pleasant surprise later on. I purchased a large order of Ralph Lauren chino from fabrics.com last year when they were marked down to $1.95/yard, and now have a large stash to pick from for spring. Since I am not buying clothing, I'm glad that I can still get an off-season bargain thrill from fabric shopping!
If you have Monday off as I do, happy long sewing weekend (or shopping?)!

Wow!!!! Very tempting! I still have to use my gift certificate from a local, boutique fabric store and also the growing mountain of stash... But thanks for sharing this!
Thank you so much for this info. I just ordered $50 worth of it and used a coupon code. I spent a total of $38 ish for a ton of fabric.
Wow we! That is some beautiful stuff!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog. You inspire me to use the swing talents I have and actually make something for me instead for everyone else.
I absolutely LOVE purple red-flecked wool. It's going to be stunning. Can't wait to see it made!
Blessings and Grace...
Oooops! You made me buy fabric!
Sorry to burst your bubble but you won't be able to make that suit with that fabric. I know because I bought that fabric back in August when fabric.com first put it on sale with the intentions of making that suit. The fabric is tooo lofty and too soft to do what the picture shows...however, you can get a jacket and skirt out of the fabric...just not that tie jacket.
However, the coat from the green will work out just fine!
Damn. I will not buy. I will not buy. I will not buy. I will not buy. I will not buy.
I'm hoping if I chant it enough, it will come true.
I bought! Hopefully the fabric will work for skirts. I have heard both good and bad! I bought 3 wools for skirts, the dot for a dress, and floral brocade....all under twenty bucks! Had a coupon too. I had it in my cart unsure and then I saw your post...thanks for twisting my arm!
Thanks so much for the tip! I ended up buying 32 yards of various fabrics and it ended up costing $44! That's crazy.
Thank you for the link to the Vera Wang dress. I can't wait for my fabric to arrive!!!
Excellent score! I'm off to check out their deals online...
You've got some amazing fabric bargains there - I love your choices. Your stash is going to keep you sewing for a while!
I bought too - last week. It just seemed to good not to stock up.
You are so, on my list. I had put myself on a fabric diet until at least May. Your post tempted me and I gave in. I bought yesterday. At least I kept it under $40.
I ordered several of those same fabrics - they have shipped today!! I wish I had seen this post earlier. That last fabric did not tempt me in the fabric.com picture, but it is actually appealing in the garment picture. Maybe it is good I didn't see your post prior to ordering!!
I'm so jealous!! I've been eyeing some of those fabrics, too, but I have to stay away and go through some of my stash first! Hehehe... great buys!
Oh, you got some purtty stuff there! I especially love the purple wool.
Great line-up of garments for your fabric. I must admit I caved in and purchased fabric too. One of them is the Chartreuse and now wishing I had gotten the teal.
